My name is Giselle Álvarez, aka “The Language Lady”
Where are you from and where do you live now?
I am originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Lived 15 years in Málaga and this is my 6th year in Lisbon.
What do you do professionally?
I am the Founder and Director of IFLI Foreign Language Immersion, an online language school where we facilitate language learning through online language immersion programs in Portuguese and English. Next year we will be launching Spanish and French. I am also the Education Program Manager of Lisbon Project, where we support migrants and refugees’ journey of integration in Portugal by offering Portuguese language courses and other activities.
What types of causes do you value most?
I am passionate about Education and believe we have a lot of work to do in this field for the present & future generations. I love helping others in general, whether it is to gain confidence, to understand their needs and support them, or to give them hope. I am also interested in self-development, self-care, self-love, nutrition and fitness. I am a creative person with a vivid imagination and enjoy developing innovative ideas.
What brings you here and what do you hope to get by being involved in this project?
I have already met some of the people involved and their energy inspired me to join the project. I am happy to contribute with my experience in education and my journey from teacher to recently an entrepreneur. I hope to learn more about startups and how to work on projects in ways I can then replicate to scale IFLI. I would love to make impactful connections so we can support each other in overcoming our challenges.
