Introductions: tell us about yourself

My name is Sean Ormiston.

I’m from NYC, and I live in Lisbon.

I am a frontend web developer for a Shopify agency; I build e-commerce websites and software solutions for merchants to manage them. I also continuously learn to improve full-stack skills.

I MOST value Forest Fire prevention in Portugal, since it seems so terribly urgent to me and I’ve seen them personally. After that I am really in line with things that improve people’s connection to nature and to one another.

I am looking to marry my skillset with the idea that I can solve real problems that I care about, and for inspiration.

I’m Carlos Medina, from Ecuador. Based in Lisbon for the last 4 years. I’m a project manager at a utility company. The types of causes that I value are equality among humans, climate action, and education. I am in the process of educating myself in the world of innovation and sustainability, therefore, I look forward to participating in this event.
Best regards.

Hi Sean!

Thanks for your welcome

I’m sorry to let you know that I’m feeling sick and couldn’t sleep much during the night.

I don’t think I’ll make it through the event. I’ll try to be present maybe later in the afternoon if it makes sense.

Sorry for the late advise and best luck with the event!

Guilherme Fontes

I’m from Coimbra, Portugal and currently live in Lisbon, Portugal.

I currently work in a Cloud and Infrastructure team as a mixture of DevOps/Sys. Admin/Cloud Infrastructure Engineer. I am always looking for things to automate and simplify.

Technology in Automation, Infrastructure and in the re-humanisation of our lives.
It could be focused on Health Sector, or any other Sector where technology and software engineering could provide improvements to people’s lives.

I have recently been thinking about an entrepreneur life and how that aligns with me or not.
And, I believe it does because I am always thinking of the next big thing that could be created and engineered every single day. Filtering, Polishing and correctly Channelling my energy is what I am valuing the most. I believe this community and the events will provide the opportunity to grow, improve, and find myself, and to also help others in their own journeys.

  • What types of causes do you value most?

  • What brings you here and what do you hope to get by being involved in this project?
I have already met some of the people involved and their energy inspired me to join the project. I am happy to contribute with my experience in education and my journey from teacher to recently an entrepreneur. I hope to learn more about startups and how to work on projects in ways I can then replicate to scale IFLI. I would love to make impactful connections so we can support each other in overcoming our challenges. I am also trying to leave my comfort zone and get to know and work with people of different backgrounds and fields of expertise other than education. Looking forward to meeting some of you soon!

Christelle Van Sebroeck

From São Paulo, Brazil / London UK, and now I live in Lisbon, Portugal

I work as a full stack software engineer (TypeScript, Vue, GCP, kubernetes) for a low code and automation startup.

Community building, sustainability, animal rights, health and wellbeing.

I enjoy building things that have a chance to solve problems, big and small, and bring value to people and their communities in some shape or form. I enjoy joining different fields together into technology, and automation to make them more effective for people.
I believe that by joining forces with people who also want to progress together, brainstorm, solve issues, can bring a lot of benefit and positive impacts, that usually starts small, but has a chance to spread and ripple through other communities.
